Tablet Stand

Whether you want to use mobile tablets as a customer service assistant, point of sale or digital signage tool, the enclosure and stand you use to protect and display your device must be carefully thought through to meet your business needs.

Although commonly referred to as a stand, a tablet stand generally contains two components: the housing containing the device and the stand to which the housing is attached. There are a number of factors you should consider when choosing both. Durability is a must if you are using a tablet in a commercial environment. You are looking for a housing and stand that will protect your device from the rigors of daily use but still allow it to be charged, accessible, and removed for replacement or upgrade if needed.

What should be considered when choosing a tablet stand?

The enclosure should be lockable to stop thieves from accessing the tablet, while the tablet stand should be fixed to the enclosure to prevent attempts to remove the enclosure. Tablets today come in a variety of sizes (even popular iPads are now available in four different sizes). There are a few options when it comes to choosing the right sized tablet stand and case. You can find an enclosure that specifically fits the size of a tablet or choose a universal stand that can be easily adjusted to fit different sized devices. The look and feel of your tablet case and stand is just as important as its functionality, especially when the tablet will be "on display" in a retail, customer service or hospitality setting. When it comes to choosing a tablet stand to accompany the tablet enclosure, the primary factor to consider is height. Will your staff access the device from a counter? Will customers access the tablet while standing? Or will this be a wall-mounted tablet placed at eye level? Consider where and how to access your tablet and the height that will most comfortably fit the purpose. In some cases, a fixed case and stand may be sufficient, but in other cases the environment may require more flexibility. For example, you might want the device to rotate between portrait and landscape mode, rotate between two users on the same retail counter, or switch between two users on opposite sides of a counter.
